One of the Beijing legacy buildings will be getting a face-lift for the 2022 Winter Olympics. The iconic "Water Cube", which housed the swimming and diving events eight years ago -- will instead be known as the "Ice Cube" for the Olympiad in 6 years times. After being refurbished, the building will host curling and wheelchair curling for the Winter and Parlympics.
The water cube, along with the Bird's Nest was one of the most iconic symbols of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, 66-Games records were established there.
After the reconstruction -- the facility will transform into an "Ice Cube". A platform will be built from steel and wood, and will have enough room to house 4-curling rinks.
There is also an opportunity to use the facility for short-track speed skating and figure skating. Once the construction project is completed, it will take about two weeks to change the venue from a swimming pool, to an ice rink, and vice-versa.
