The G20 Trade Ministers' meeting has begun on Saturday morning in Shanghai. It's also a preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit to be hosted by China in September. Trade ministers from G20 member countries and officials from world economic organizations, like the WTO and the IMF are taking part in the event.
They will discuss issues including boosting world trade growth, promoting coordination and cooperation of investment policies, and promoting the inclusive and coordinated global value chain. Chinese Commerce Minister, Gao Hucheng has called on the G20 countries to join hands to make a difference in trade and investment despite tough global economic conditions.
"Although the tasks ahead of us are arduous, there is great hope. I believe as long as we make joint efforts, uphold the spirit of partnership, are open and cooperative and have sincere cooperation, the trade ministers' meeting will produce pragmatic and constructive achievements," said Gao Hucheng.
