Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin at the G20 Summit in Hangzhou. Xi urged China and Russia to push forward the alignment of their development strategies, and to dovetail the Belt and Road Initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union.

Xi said the two countries should cooperate more closely on international and regional issues. He also called for stronger military and security cooperation.
Putin said Russia should join hands with China to ensure that the political trust and friendship between the nations can provide a boost in economic cooperation.
Xi also met with Prime Minister of Thailand, Prayuth Chan-ocha, on the sidelines of the G20 summit. The two sides agreed to strengthen strategic communication, expand people-to-people exchanges and promote cooperation in all fields.
