Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi on the island of Sardinia in Italy. The visit is a stop-over on the way to Latin America.

Xi told Renzi that China is willing to work on closer ties by deepening cultural exchanges and strengthening coordination in international and regional affairs. Xi also called for Italy to play a positive role in promoting China-EU relations.
Renzi said Italy is looking to further strengthening ties with China in traditional as well as innovative sectors.
