Chinese President Xi Jinping has left Beijing for a week-long trip to Latin America. The president will pay state visits to Ecuador, Peru and Chile. He is scheduled to attend a number of events, from openings of infrastructure projects, to meetings promoting cultural exchange.
He will also attend the APEC leaders meeting in the Peruvian capital Lima over the weekend, and deliver a keynote speech at the CEO Summit.
President Xi's wife Peng Li-yuan is accompanying him. Our correspondent Paulo Cabral in Quito briefed us on President Xi's agenda in Ecuador, where the three-nation trip begins.
