Real Madrid has opened a youth football camp in the country's capital, Havana. The Real Madrid Foundation has partnered with Cuba's National Institute for Sport, Physical Education, and Recreation, known as INDER, and the camp aims to instruct 100 children and teachers from five primary schools located in the city.
Former Real Madrid star Emilio Brutagueno would join dozens of Cuban boys and girls on a pitch in Havana to talk about leadership, respect, discipline and team work. Divided into small groups, the Cuban youngsters would get to learn directly from the former star, who hopes that this experience will open doors for other exchanges between the Real Madrid Foundation and INDER . The Foundation hopes to encourage an interest among Cuban children to not only develop their football skills, but also learn essential values through the sport such as leadership, teamwork, and respect.
"During the game, one learns how to deal with others, how to win and lose, and how to maintain discipline, respect for colleagues and the coach. That is what we want to focus on and for the future, we would like to have many more projects to build on that. We wanted to see if we could succeed here and I think this week has already been very positive," Fmr Real Madrid striker Emilio Butragueno said.
