China's Broadcasting Performing Arts Troupe is enchanting audiences in Canada with a new global tour called 'Enchanting China.' Music lovers applauded the Troupe's latest performance at Vancouver's renowned Queen Elizabeth Theatre earlier this week.
"Enchanting China: An Orchestral Extravaganza" features more than 70 musicians, singers and dancers in a colorful and imaginative program that includes: Peking Opera, classical Chinese hits, cheerful folk music, and traditional Chinese orchestra.
The response from audiences in Canada has been very positive.
Organizers say this year's program is more complicated and focusses more on Chinese traditional culture and values.
"Through this performance, we want to showcase the diverse culture and arts of China, to convey the idea that Chinese opera is not merely martial arts or dancing, but is a performance with traditional Chinese values," said Liu Fei, counsil general of China's Embassy in Vancouver.
"This kind of cultural event is just like the "Cultures of China, Festival of Spring" tour that we did during the Spring festival season. We hope we can organize more events like this in the future," said Gao Zhidong, director of Canada China Culture Exchange Association.
Music lovers in Toronto, Canada, can see the "Enchanting China" show this Friday and Saturday.
