The third China-U.S. dialogue on fighting cyber crime was held in Washington, from Wednesday to Friday. China noted that under Chinese President Xi Jinping and his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama, efforts to safeguard cyber-security are booming, helping to crack down on these crimes.

China proposed maintaining this dialogue mechanism, as a main communication channel for cyber-security. This allows for prompt responses to requests from the other side, and constructive management of differences. The U.S. said the dialogues serve as a crucial platform for candid communication and building trust between law enforcement officials.

US-China cyber relations have been marked more by suspicion than cooperation -- a factor that has strained relations in the past two years. The U.S. has accused China's military of cyber attacks. It also says Chinese government hackers have attacked U.S. enterprises to steal trade secrets and other intellectual property.
