China has strongly criticised Tomomi Inada for her visit to the Yasukuni Shrine, and urged Japan to face up to their history of aggression during World War Two.

"The visit not only reflects a stubborn historical view, but also poses risks to the peaceful solution of the Pearl Harbour incident. People cannot live without honesty, and this principle applies to a country. We urge Japan to face up to their history of aggression during World War Two, keep the promises they made previously, and handle related issues with responsibility," Hua Chunying said.
