At least 30% of express packages are in logistics storage warehouses and will not be delivered on time, Xinhua reported, adding that express delivery is turning into snail delivery.

新华社消息，目前至少百分三十的快件积压在物流仓库中无法及时送出,快递成了"蜗牛递"。

※The delivery backlog has been caused by a surge in online shopping orders, which account for 60% of parcel deliveries. The recent shortage of diesel oil and bad weather conditions in northern China, have compounded the problems of an already overloaded express delivery market. "China's logistics industry hasn't caught up with the rapid development of e-commerce," said an analyst with domestic research company Analysys International. "It may take three to five years for the industry to solve the problem."

中山发首张"人身保护令"

Zhongshan First Court of Guangdong Province issued its first restraining order on Dec. 13, Xinhua reported. The female applicant is currently undergoing divorce proceedings due to alleged long-term domestic violence by her husband. The court ruled that for the next six months, her husband is forbidden to contact or harass her in any manner, which includes phone calls, letters or internet communications.

新华网报道，广东省中山市第一人民法院13日发出该市首张"人身保护令"，申请者是一名正在与其夫进行离婚诉讼的女子, 其夫据称长期对她实施家庭暴力。法院判定，从即日起的６个月内，禁止相关人利用电话、信件、网络等方式接触或骚扰申请者。

>Geminid meteor shower peaks tonight

双子座流星雨今晚亮相

For sky-watchers sufficiently earnest to brave winter temperatures, the annual Geminid meteor shower expected tonight will be the reward, National Geographic reported. Around 120 meteors an hour will be visible when the shower peaks at 7 pm Beijing time. The quarter moon will obscure the first part of the show, but after midnight the conditions should be ideal. Sky-watchers should face northeast to the direction of Gemini to observe the meteors.

>Cuba launches 'objective' Wikipedia

Cuba has launched EcuRed, an online encyclopedia similar to Wikipedia, the Daily Telegraph reported. The official launch will be on Tuesday, but it was up and running on Monday with 19,345 entries. The site's stated mission is "to create and disseminate the knowledge of all and for all, from Cuba and with the world," and "the accumulation and development of knowledge, with a democratizing, non-profit, objective, from a de-colonizer point of view." It describes the United States as "the empire of our time" and "the most powerful nation of all time."

据英国《每日电讯报》消息，古巴近日推出类似维基百科、名为EcuRed的网络百科全书。EcuRed计划于当地时间周二正式推出，但周一就已经上线运行，一共有19345个创始词条。本着"古巴和世界一道，为自己和他人创造、传播一切知识"的目的，该站点的理念是"用去殖民化的观点，朝向民主化、非营利和客观的目标，积累和发展知识。"美国在EcuRed中被描述为"我们时代的帝国、一直以来最强大的国家。"

Antoine Dodson's dramatic reaction to a crime has spawned the most-watched YouTube video of the year, excluding music videos, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. Dodson, a 24-year-old student, became a viral hit after he gave an angry TV interview about the attempted rape of his younger sister. And after a video turned the rant into a song called Bed Intruder, Dodson became a fully-fledged Internet sensation. Adding the page views for two versions of the video, the number of hits reached 61 million.

男子博客上写嫖娼心得

Police detained a man in Shishan Town of Guangdong Province on Nov. 21 for disseminating pornography, the Guangzhou Daily reported. Lin Moulong, 22, of Guangxi Province, is accused of uploading photos and diaries that detailed his activities with prostitutes. From March to November, police say he met with prostitutes more than 70 times and uploaded 171 photos and 48 diaries to his blog, which generated about 124,000 hits.

据《广州日报》报道，11月21日，一男子因涉嫌传播淫秽物品在广东狮山被捕。22岁的林某龙原系广西人，被指上传自己的嫖妓图片及相关日记。今年3月到11月，他共嫖娼70多次，事后上传了171张图片﹑48篇心得到其博客上，获得了约12.4万次点击。

An escalator at exit B of Guomao station of the Shenzhen subway line 1 suddenly ran in the opposite direction (from up to down) at around 9 am today, injuring many passengers, sznews.com reported. Twenty-three passengers, including one pregnant woman, were sent to the hospital, most of whom suffered injuries to their legs or feet.

>4-year-old girl sexually assaulted

4岁女童遭性侵患淋病

A four-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Hangzhou's Jinlanchi kindergarten, Zhejiang Province on Dec. 1, the Today Morning Express reported. The girl's parents found their daughter wearing blood-stained underpants after school. A hospital exam revealed that the girl had been sexually abused and had contracted gonorrhea, a sexually transmitted disease. Local police are investigating the case.

>US fires electromagnetic cannon

美成功试射电磁炮

The US Navy last Friday successfully test fired an electromagnetic cannon that fired a projectile 110 nautical miles (200 km), according to AFP. The cannon uses a powerful jolt of electrical current to propel a non-explosive slug along rails before launching it at supersonic velocities. The US Navy hopes this weapon will extend the range of weapons aboard ships, thereby protecting sailors.

The film production crew of "The Founding of a Party," which commemorates the Communist Party of China's 90th anniversary, filmed in the Kremlin in Moscow, Russia for a week, China News Service reported. The portion shot in Moscow relates to a visit by communist members Liu Shaoqi, Zhang Tailei and Qu Qiubai in June 1921 to attend the Third International Communist Conference, where Lenin made several speeches.

An enraged German father who disapproved of his daughter's relationship with an older man went to her boyfriend's home and castrated him with a bread knife, the Telegraph reported. Helmut Seifert, 47, was enraged when he heard his 17-year-old daughter was having a relationship with Phillip Genscher, 57. Seifert went to police in his home town of Bielefeld but officers said they were powerless to intervene. He then recruited two work colleagues from his factory and went to Genscher's house. "The man was forced to remove his trousers and, fully conscious, he was castrated. The severed testicles were taken away by the perpetrator," said police. Genscher nearly bled to death but managed to call police. His life was saved, but he will remain a eunuch for life.

Lonely South Korean men who have difficulty finding romance can now get video calls from a cute girlfriend - if they download a smartphone application, AFP reported. The ''Honey, it's me!'' app, launched by developer Nabix for iPhone users on Nov. 30, was initially free and generated 80,000 downloads a day. Other apps are attempting to make single men feel less lonely, such as the one that plays the sound of a woman sleeping on the next pillow. Yet ''Honey, it's me!'' appears to be the first in offering video-calls from virtual model Mina, 22, who sweet-talks users three to four times a day. Her messages range from ''Are you still sleeping?" to "Time for breakfast!'' and ''Good night, sweet dreams." Nabix plans new versions in English, Chinese and Japanese.
