Iran's military commanders killed

Senior commanders of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) were killed in a suicide attack in southeastern Iran, local media reported Sunday.

The assassinated officers include Gen. Noor Ali Shooshtari, the deputy commander of the Guard's ground force, and Rajabali Mohammadzadeh, the Guard's chief provincial commander, the official IRNA news agency said.

There about 60 killed or injured in the attack, IRNA added.

The semi-official Fars news agency said the attack which occurred early Sunday in Iran's southeastern province of Sistan- Baluchestan near Iran's border with Pakistan killed 20 and injured dozens of others.

The attack occurred when officers were inside a car on their way to attend a meeting in the Pishin region with local religious groups, Fars said, adding that the casualties also included some local tribal heads.
