Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has inspected the headquarters of the Ministry of People's Security, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Sunday.

The interior force "has reliably protected the gains of the socialist country and the peace of the people by standing firm guard over the outpost of the class struggle, thus making great contributions to the prosperity and development of the country," Kim was quoted as saying by the KCNA.

Kim called the public security personnel "the political defenders of the Party and vanguard fighters in the class struggle," hoping they would protect the gains of the revolution and lives and properties of the people with their lives in the future.

He also "set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines for further increasing the combat capability of the interior force," the KCNA reported.

The KCNA did not mention the date of the visit.
