Iran's Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi Monday said Iran has detained "several foreign nationals" in Tehran's last week protests, the local satellite Press TV reported.
Sporadic clashes erupted in Tehran last week in coincidence with the Ashura Day, which was celebrated by Shiites worldwide. Eight people were killed in the anti-government protests and some 500 others were arrested.
"Some of the detainees are foreign nationals pursuing propaganda and psychological warfare," Moslehi was quoted as saying.
"They had entered Iran only two days before Ashura. Their cameras and equipment have been confiscated," Moslehi told reporters without giving the number or the nationalities of those arrested.
"The investigations into the cases of the detained foreigners are being completed and their cases will be handed to the judiciary within the next couple of days," the report quoted him as saying.
