At least 19 people were killed in a road accident over the weekend in southern Philippines, police said Monday.

A truck carrying 45 passengers turned over around 9:30 a.m. local time Saturday on the national highway in Vicenzo Sagun town in Zamboanga del Sur, according to Angelo Sunglao, Zamboanga peninsula regional police director.

Sunglao said of the total fatalities, 13 died on the spot while six passed away while being treated at the hospital.

Philippine police are investigating the cause of accident.
