Eight people were killed and 4 others missing when flash flood hit eastern part of Indonesia on Friday, Health Ministry reported here Saturday.
Incessant rain sparked flood in two remote villages of the Kolaka district of Southeast Sulawesi province, with over 79 families fleeing their homes and taking shelters, head of the crisis center of the ministry Rustam Pakaya told Xinhua by phone.
Among the deaths were one baby and one child, said Pakaya.
Four people are being treated at hospital for their injuries, he said.
Indonesia has been frequently hit by floods and landslides during the wet season which takes place from December to April. Lack of forest-covered areas has been blamed for the disaster.
