The Arab foreign ministers agreed in a meeting to support indirect Israeli-Palestinian peace talks in a period of four months, a senior Palestinian negotiator said Wednesday.
"The Arab foreign ministers have decided to endorse the proximity talks between Palestinians and Israelis in a period of four months," chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said in Arab League headquarters, adding that the decision is based on a U. S. proposal.
Peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians have been stalled since December 2008.
The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said he rejects renewal of peace talks unless Israel completely stops Jewish settlement activities in the Palestinian territories.
