Bangladeshi Confucius Institute holds Chinese Spring program

Bangladeshi North-South University (NSU) Confucius Institute held Chinese Spring programĀ on Thursday to promote Chinese culture and laud the friendship between China and Bangladesh.

Khaliquzzaman M Elias, director of Confucius Institute at NSU, said at the opening ceremony thatĀ Confucius Institute has developed steadily over the last four years with the support of the Chinese government.

"I think the future of Confucius Institute will be very bright, " Elias said.

Wang Yu, charge d'affaires of Chinese embassy in Bangladesh, said at the function that spring is the start of a new year in China and it is also the symbol of hope.

"So we expect the future of Confucius Institute will be full of hope just like spring," he said.

Students from Confucius Institute, Dhaka University and other schools which have Chinese class presented marvelous performances, including Chinese martial art, Chinese traditional songs and dances.

NSU Confucius Institute, the first Confucius Institute in South Asia, was established on Feb. 14, 2006. It was co-founded by Yunnan University and NSU, the first private university in Bangladesh.
