Avalanche claimed the lives of some three dozen people and injured five others in Afghanistan's northeast Badakhshan province, spokesman for provincial administration Abdul Marouf Rasikh said Tuesday.
"The natural disaster hit several houses in Zorbadod village of the mountainous Arghonjkha district a couple of days ago and killed 35 people including women and childen," Rasikh told Xinhua.
Some 40 houses were damaged and over 500 heads of cattle were killed in the natural disaster, he added.
More than 70 people had lost their lives in cold weather and avalanche in Badakhshan while some 200 others in the mountainous Salang Pass 85 km north of capital city Kabul over the past couple of months.
