Afghan National Army ( ANA) and NATO-led forces during operation against Taliban militants in the country's northwestern Badghis province eliminated nearly three dozen fighters Tuesday, an official with the press department of ANA in the region said.

"Soldiers of ANA and international forces launched an operation in Balamirghab district in the wee hour of Tuesday, as a result 30 militants were killed and 15 others wounded," Basir Khan Ghori told Xinhua.

Ghori insisted that 15 bodies of the militants including five group commanders were laying on the ground.

He also said the combined forces also called on precision airpower during the operation but adding no civilians were harmed in the raids.

According to Ghori, a soldier with ANA was also killed in the battle while six others got wounded.

He also said a U.S. Marine was also injured in the battle but refused to give more details.
