Ousted former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is the key to the country's peace, coalition Bhumjaithai Party deputy leader and Deputy Interior Minister Boonjong Wongtrairat said Monday, the Thai PBS Television reported.
It has depended on Thaksin since he can make negotiation between the coalition government and his "red-shirt" supporters happen again, the Thai PBS Television reported.
The website by Bangkok Post also quoted Boonjong as saying "he (Thaksin) is the one who will decide whether the House should be dissolved in six or nine months, because the "red-shirts" can't make this decision."
Boonjong's statement was made after the Saturday's clashes between troops and "red-shirts" in capital Bangkok, which resulted in the death of 21 people and the injury of 800 people.
The anti-government "red-shirts" have now occupied two places as their main rally site including the Phan Fah Bridge and Rathchaprasong Intersection in the center of capital Bangkok.
They are pressuring the Prime Minister to dissolve the House immediately and hold a new general election.
