A company of border patrol police in the northern province of Phitsanulok broke through a five-hour blockade of the "red-shirt" protesters, who tried to block them from traveling to Thailand capital of Bangkok, Thai News Agency reported Monday.
The blockage was ordered by "red-shirt" core leader Natthawut Saikua on fears that police reinforcement will join effort to disperse the anti-government protesters in Bangkok on Monday.
The "red-shirts" have been gathering at the Rathchaprasong Intersection, a shopping district in central Bangkok, for weeks to demand Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to dissolve the lower house of parliament and call a new general election.
But, at the same time the "various-color shirts", who are opposed to the House dissolution, are increasing pressure on the government to remove the "red-shirts".
