At least 10 people were killed Sunday in a drone attack in Pakistan's tribal area of North Waziristan, according to local TV reports.
Several others were also injured in the missile attack by the U. S.surveillance plane in North Waziristan area of Dattakhel, said the reports.
Sources were quoted as saying that at least two missiles were fired at a house in Dattakhel area of Anzar, where casualties occurred.
Militants have escaped from South Waziristan and taken refuge in North Waziristan. Local correspondents said that foreign militants are present in North Waziristan.
It is worth mentioning that the drone attack followed Friday's warning by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Pakistan.
Faisal Shahzad, a 30-year-old Pakistan-born American, was arrested just 53 hours after the attempted bombing on May 1 in Times Square, New York.
"We've made it very clear that if, heaven-forbid, an attack like this that we can trace back to Pakistan were to have been successful, there would be very severe consequences," Clinton said in an interview with a U.S. TV channel.
On Saturday, Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that the U.S. has formally requested Pakistan for cooperation in investigations into the failed bombing attempt at New York's Times Square and Pakistan will completely cooperate with Washington in this regard
"Today we received a formal request from them in which they have told us some details about the charges," Malik told reporters in Islamabad.
Malik said that it was premature to link the New York incident with Waziristan. "We will investigate the reports of Faisal Shahzad 's visit to Waziristan," he said, adding that only Pakistani agencies would investigate the matter and no foreign team would be allowed to come to Pakistan for the purpose.
