Thai security forces find several munitions on areas previously occupied by "red-shirts"

A number of munitions were found as Thai security forces examined several areas in central Bangkok occupied by the anti-government group, the government's Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES) told the nation in a television program Thursday afternoon.
After the over-two-month long rally by the anti-government group, the CRES deployed security forces to examine several areas, which are located around the main rally site Rajprasong Intersection in central Bangkok.
Explosives, firebombs, and several assault rifles were found as the security forces were searching the areas including the Lumpini Park, Sarasin, and Pathumwan District.
Some 18 of M79 grenades, 25 of M16 assault rifles, two of HK-47 rifles were discovered on the Lumpini area, Police Lieutenant General Songpol Wattanachai, Deputy Commander of Metropolitan Police Command Center, said.
Meanwhile, an initial inspection of the Pathumwanaram Temple showed six bodies discovered there were shot from a distance, Director of the National Institute of Forensic Science Doctor Porntip Rojanasunant said.
It was still unknown who fired the lethal shots at them as the investigation was continuing, Doctor Porntip said.
The Pathumwanaram Temple, which is the shelter for the anti- government protestors, especially children, elderly, and women, is located next to the Rajprasong Intersection in central Bangkok.
Before the anti-government protestors dispersed on Wednesday afternoon (May 19), the Rajprasong Intersection had been occupied by the "red-shirt" protestors since early April.
