At least 55 Taliban militants were killed in different clashes with security forces in northwest Pakistan's restive tribal region of Orazkai, local media reported Monday.
According to the reports, 11 militants were killed and three other injured militants were arrested by the security forces when the militants attacked a security check post in Orakzai. In retaliation assault, one security official was killed and two others wounded.
Meanwhile, the security forces killed 44 militants and injured another 11 in various areas of Upper Orakzai on Sunday.
The forces killed 15 Taliban and injured another 11 in Zakhtan and Balkhtan areas of Upper Orakzai agency while gaining complete control of the areas.
Security forces also engaged the Taliban in Ghalju, headquarters of Upper Orakzai, killing 20 terrorists. Troops also destroyed seven vehicles in use by the Taliban, as they targeted terrorist hideouts in Kasha and Tuti Maila areas, killing nine Taliban.
Over 1,000 militants have been killed in the military operation in Orakzai during the past 45 days. Besides, security forces have captured and secured much of lower Orakzai agency.
