Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Thursday that the UN Security Council sanctions targeting Iran's defense sphere will not undermine the Islamic Republic's military might, the English language satellite Press TV reported.
Vahidi said that the earlier sanctions against Iran all failed to undermine the "solid will of the Iranian nation," the report said.
Last week, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution to impose a fourth round of sanctions against Iran over its suspected nuclear program.
The resolution imposes binding restrictions on Iran's import of conventional arms, according to which other countries are prohibited from selling to Iran eight categories of heavy weapons, including battle tanks, attack helicopters and missile systems.
"In the recent resolution, arrogant powers banned weapons sales to Iran, but we do not need their weapons and we can even export such weapons," Vahidi was quoted as saying.
"Iran is self-sufficient in production and mass producing of artillery, tanks, helicopters and warships," he added.
