Iran welcomes Amano's offer for nuclear fuel swap talks

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki welcomed a proposal raised by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano for holding talks with the Vienna Group on its nuclear issue, the semi-official Fars news agency reported Monday.
"Iran is ready to take part in the meeting brokered by Amano," Mottaki said on Sunday.
He said, referring to Iran's July letter to Amano, "Mr. Amano has forwarded the letter to the members of the Vienna group and it seems that he is arranging for holding the meeting," according to the report.
Earlier in July, Iran submitted a letter on resuming the nuclear talks to IAEA, expressing its readiness to start uranium swap talks over providing fuel for Tehran's reactor.
"Iran wants to enter into talks with Vienna Group to determine and approve the details of fuel swap for Tehran research reactor," Mottaki was quoted as saying.
The United States, France, Russia and the International Atomic Energy Agency are dubbed as Vienna Group which is involved in Iran's uranium fuel swap talks.
Turkey, Iran and Brazil signed an agreement on May 17, dubbed Tehran declaration, in which Iran committed itself to giving 1,200 kg of its 3.5 percent enriched uranium to Turkey in exchange for 20 percent enriched uranium it will receive from Western countries to be used as fuel in the nuclear research reactor in Tehran.
