A Scandinavian Airlines plane made a successful emergency landing at Sofia Airport late Friday after one of its engines caught fire, the airport said Saturday.
The McDonnell Douglas MD-82 with 133 passengers on board flying from Kos, Greece, to Copenhagen, reported a fire in one of the engines at around 10 p.m. local time (2000 GMT) Friday.
An emergency alert was declared immediately and the plane then landed safely and without injuries, the airport said.
The passengers and crew of the damaged plane completed their journey to Copenhagen on Saturday on another Scandinavian Airlines flight.
