Cuban former leader Fidel Castro Wednesday repeated his call for eliminating the world's nuclear weapons, warning the world would be destroyed once a nuclear war breaks out.

"If such risks are not understood by those who have the responsibility to take decisions and hold power of science and technology in their hands, the next world war will be also the last one," Castro wrote in an article published by official media.

"The only way to avoid a nuclear war and a global climate disaster is to eliminate the nuclear weapons," he said.
