An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 rocked Maluku province in eastern parts of Indonesia on Sunday, there is not potential for tsunami, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported here.
The agency reported that the quake jolted at 19:12 a.m. Jakarta time (1712 GMT) with the epicenter at 138 km northeast Tual of the province and at a depth of 59 km.
The intensity of the quake was felt at 2 to 3 MMI (Modified Mercally Intensity) at Kaimana town.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported on its website that the quake was measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale with a depth of 8.7 km under sea bed.
