The Israeli army arrested on Saturday night a Palestinian teen who tried to penetrate the fence between northern Gaza Strip and Israel, Israeli and Palestinian sources said.

Israeli Radio reported that the Israeli army stationed at the borderline fired illuminating bombs after getting the warning that a Palestinian was approaching the fence of the border. Several tanks rolled into an area near the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun. A 14-year-old Gaza boy was arrested.

Palestinian witnesses said the Israeli soldiers were on a full alert. The sky was lighted and several gunshots were heard.

The pro-Hamas al-Aqsa Radio reported that Palestinian militants and Israeli soldiers exchanged fire in northern Gaza Strip after the Israeli army tanks rolled into Gaza Strip. No injuries were reported.

Adham Abu Selmeya, chief of medical services in the Hamas-ruled Ministry of Health told Xinhua no Palestinian was killed or injured by the Israeli soldiers in the incident.
