6.5-magnitude quake jolts Japan island

An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter Scale hit Bonin Islands, Japan at 11:24 Beijing Time (03:24 GMT) on Tuesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter was monitored at 28.4 degrees north latitude and 139.2 degrees east longitude with a depth of about 460 kilometers, the center said.
