The Dominican Republic reported a new cholera case on Saturday, raising the number of the country's cases to 16.
The new patient, a 39-year-old man from south of the country, has been hospitalized and is in good conditions, Public Health Minister Bautista Rojas told reporters.
"This patient is being monitored by the Public Health Ministry. We have a monitoring system at national level and everything goes fine," he said.
The epidemic is under strict control of authorities, which have carried out preventive measure nationwide, he added.
Dominican Republic shares the Hispaniola Island with Haiti, where more than 1,800 were already killed in the latest cholera break. The Dominican Republic hasn't reported any death from the disease so far.
