The 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) kicked off in Hanoi Wednesday with participation of 1,377 delegates who will elect the new CPV Central Committee for the term of 2011-2015, define orientations for the country's ten-year socio-economic development strategy in the 2011-2020 period, and adopt the party's amended constitution implementation.
The 11th National Congress of the CPV will focus on enhancing the party's leadership capacity and combativeness, promoting the nation's synergy, comprehensively boosting the renewal process, creating the fundamentals for Vietnam to become a basically modern industrial country by 2020.
During the week-long congress, which will close on Jan 19, four major issues will be discussed including the Draft Platform for National Construction, the Draft Political Report of the 10th Party's Central Executive Committee to be submitted to the 11th Party Congress, the Draft of the 2010- 2020 Socio-economic development strategy and the concerning personnel preparations for the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Initially, the congress points out some major indicators of the country from 2011 to 2015 including the average GDP growth of 7-7. 5 percent per year; GDP per capita in 2015 is 2,000 U.S. dollars, an increase of 1.7 times against 2010.
