Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Wednesday fired the deputy head of Moscow police following the terrorist attack at Domodedovo airport, said the Kremlin.

According to the statement on Kremlin website, Major-General Vladimir Chugunov left his office after 10 years of service.

Medvedev's decision came following the bomb blast at the Domodedovo airport that claimed 35 lives and injured over 130 people.

The president blamed poor security measures in the airport and promised to find those guilty.

A source told the Interfax news agency that some senior transport police officials will also be dismissed, as Medvedev on Tuesday instructed Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev to submit a report on sanctions, including dismissals, to be applied to the Interior Ministry officials in charge of security at transport facilities.
