At least two people were killed and 19 others injured, including a police chief, in the triple car bombings in Iraq's northern city of Kirkuk on Wednesday morning, a local police chief said.
The coordinated car bomb attacks took place successively when two booby-trapped car struck police patrols in the city, some 250 km north of Baghdad, and a third hit a base of the local Kurdish security force in Kirkuk's southern neighborhood of al-Wasitti, Brigadier General Sarhat Abdul Qader told Xinhua.
"Our first report about the triple attacks said that a policeman and a civilian were killed and 19 others were wounded," Qader said.
The police chief Colonel Ahmed Shamirani was among the wounded along with several security members, Qader said, adding that many victims were evacuated by ambulances and private vehicles to different hospitals in the city.
