Death toll in floods, landslides in Philippines rises to 11

Death toll in landslides and floods in Central and Southern Philippines has risen to 11 while four others are missing, the National Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Sunday.

NDRRMC executive director Benito Ramos said Visayas Region in central Philippines and some parts of Mindanao in the south continue to experience rains which caused flooding in the provinces of Bohol, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Western Samar and Misamis Oriental.

"As a result, flashflood, landslides and tornado were experienced in some areas," he said.

Eight of those who died from the calamity came from Tacloban City in Leyte prtovince, two from Bohol and one from Leyte. Those missing came from Kanga, Leyte and Bacuag, Surigao del Norte.

A total of 29,682 families or 148,548 persons were affected by the floods and landslides.
