Singapore PM announces new cabinet line-up

Teo Chee Hean, who is now deputy prime minister and defense minister, will be deputy prime minister and home affairs minister as well as coordinating minister for national security.

Ng Eng Hen, currently education minister, will be the new defense minister.

Tharman Shanmugaratnam, currently finance minister, will retain his finance portfolio and will also be a deputy prime minister as well as minister for manpower.

Gan Kim Yong, currently minister for manpower, will be the new health minister. Current Minister for Environment and Water Resources Yaacob Ibrahim will head the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts.

Current Information, Communication and the Arts Minister Lui Tuck Yew will be Transport Minister and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Current Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister Vivian Balakrishnan will be the new minister for environment and water resources. Lim Hng Kiang will remain Trade and Industry Minister.

Tharman will replace Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong as the chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Prime Minister Lee will be the Chairman of the Government Investment Corporation of Singapore.
