A T-37 type military training plane crashed into the sea near Guzelbahce town of Turkey's western Izmir province on Thursday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency quoted Izmir Governor Cahit Kirac as saying.

Two pilots onboard, probably one trainer and one student, were missing after the training plane crashed into the Aegean Sea at about 12:10 p.m. local time (0910 GMT), according to the report.

However, private Dogan news agency quoted witnesses as saying the plane crashed shortly after it took off and the two pilots did not leave the plane by ejection seat.

The Turkish Coast Guard divers and the police divers are searching at the crash site for the wreckage and the pilots, Anatolia reported.
