The Afghan Taliban on Wednesday denied reports that Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar has died.

Zabihullah Mujahid, who claims to speak for the Taliban insurgents, on Wednesday morning told local media that the text message sent to some media reporters was wrong.

Mujahid told some local media that the "enemies of Taliban" have hacked his mobile phone and sent false text messages on Wednesday morning reporting the death of Amir ul Mumainin (Mullah Mohammad Omar).

"The report about the death of Mullah Omar is merely a propaganda to demoralize Mujahideen. Mullah Omar is alive, inside Afghanistan and is leading Mujahideen against foreign troops." Zabihulla Mujahid said.

Mullah Omar had escaped the biggest U.S. military manhunt in the region since the collapse of his regime in late 2001 by U.S- led military campaign.
