25 killed in cross-border attacks in Pakistan

At least 15 Pakistani security personnel were killed in a cross-border attack launched by Afghan militants Saturday morning in Pakistan's northwest Chitral area, reported local Urdu TV channel Duniya.
The militants also suffered a loss of ten lives in the fight, said the report.
Early on Saturday morning an estimated 400 Afghan militants launched attacks simultaneously on three border checkposts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border area in Chitral, a mountainous town on the Pakistani side, said a local media report.
One of the places from which the militants entered the Pakistani side is Arendu, a town sitting on the Pakistan- Afghanistan border line, which is about 160 kilometers northeast of Afghan eastern city of Jalalabad.
The militants attacked the checkposts on the Pakistani side with rockets and heavy weapons, said local media reports.
The fight between the Afghan militants and the Pakistani forces is still going on there and the Pakistani paramilitary force have reportedly blown up four bridges in order to cut off the ways for the militants to retreat back to Afghanistan.
