Thirty Kurdish militants have been killed or injured by Iranian troops in northwestern Iran over the past two days, the local satellite Press TV reported Sunday.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched a series of operations against the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK), dubbed as a "terrorist" group by Tehran, Friday afternoon, said IRGC Colonel Hamid Ahmadi was quoted as saying Saturday.
"The operations to clear the country's northwestern area of the members of PJAK terrorist group will continue with strength," said Ahmadi.
The IRGC announced Saturday that it had begun fresh operations against the PJAK in northwestern Iran.
Iran has recently deployed 5,000 military personnel in the northwest of the country along its border with the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
Recent clashes between the IRGC and PJAK militants have led to the death of dozens from both sides.
