The Libyan rebel National Transitional Council (NTC) decided Wednesday to dispatch a delegation to Niger to demand the sealing of borders to prevent the escape of fallen Libyan leader Mummar Gaddafi, his family or his loyalists and discuss the issue of returning the smuggled money.

A large convoy of about 250 armored vehicles carrying Gaddafi's loyalists has crossed into neighboring Niger on Tuesday.

Gaddafi or his sons were not spotted in the convoy that reportedly carried gold and cash and was escorted by Niger troops.

Niger's Internal Affairs Minister Abdou Labo, however, denied that a Libyan convoy had entered his country. But he confirmed that Niger had given asylum to Gaddafi's internal security chief Mansour Daw on humanitarian grounds.

Gaddafi is still on the run, though rebels control most of the North African country and are working on setting up a new government to replace the ousted leader's regime.

Gaddafi's daughter Aisha, together with her mother Safiya, and brothers Mohammed and Hannibal, took refuge in neighboring Algeria last week.
