Four people were killed Saturday in Brazil when the small plane they were traveling in crashed into a farm in the southern state of Sao Paulo, local police said Sunday.

Initial reports indicated that the pilot lost control over the Bonanza model aircraft after it ran into a heavy rain storm as the plane entered the state of Sao Paulo, police said.

The light plane had been traveling from the north-central state of Mato Grosso do Sul to the industrial town of Campinas about one hour from Brazil's commercial capital of Sao Paulo when it crashed late Saturday evening.

The 51-year-old pilot, his 18-year-old daughter, 12-year-old son, plus a female companion all died on the spot and their bodies were recovered on Sunday and taken to a medical facility in the state, a spokesman for the Sao Paulo fire department said.
