A Taliban key commander namely Mullah Barat was killed in Uruzgan province, 370 km south of capital city Kabul, on Wednesday, Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement.
"Mullah Barat a key commander of Taliban terrorist group along with two of his men were killed in Uruzgan Wednesday morning," the statement asserted.
Barat, according to the statement, was in-charge of organizing attacks on security forces in Khas Uruzgan district and surrounding areas in the province.
The Interior Ministry in the statement described the elimination of Mullah Barat as a great achievement by police towards strengthening security there in Uruzgan.
Taliban militants have yet to make comment.
Police, according to officials, have earlier killed two more Taliban commanders namely Mullah Ghulam and Mullah Rustam in Charchino district of Uruzgan province on Monday.
