China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) agreed to boost cooperation in the area of disaster management at a trilateral meeting held on Friday.
Sharing the practice and experience each country has had in disaster relief will boost economic progress, improve livelihoods and bolster sustainable development, according to a statement from the meeting.
Jointly convened by the disaster relief departments of each of the three countries, the meeting was intended to establish a mechanism for future meetings, exchanges and information sharing, the statement said.
The meeting also called for more disaster management training, improved satellite surveillance and enhanced cooperation in on-site disaster relief, the statement said.
A joint declaration on disaster management was issued at the meeting.
