India and the United States will sign a bilateral aviation safety pact in New Delhi on Thursday, which will pave the way for opening up market abroad for India's home-made aeronautical products, sources said Wednesday.

"The Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA) would encourage indigenous aircraft and aeronautical products industry and the U.S. acceptance of Indian products would help their global acceptance," the sources said.

The pact will benefit the nascent aircraft manufacturing industry in India and expedite trade in aviation products between the two sides, they said.

The sources said that the pact would be signed at the India-U.S. Aviation Summit between the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and its Indian counterpart Directorate General of Civil Aviation in the Indian capital.
