The warrant of arrest has been served against former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at a hospital in Metro Manila, a local newspaper reported on its website Friday evening.

The warrant was served at St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City, Metro Manila by National Capital Region Police Office Director Alan Purisima, said Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The Philippine National Police were quoted as saying that it has "implemented the warrants to all the respondents" with the support of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and it "will serve warrants of arrest to whomever the court so orders."

The Commission on Elections filed the formal complaint before Pasay City Regional Trial Court Friday morning and the warrant of arrest was issued several hours later.

Arroyo has been charged with electoral sabotage in the 2007 national elections.
