Pakistani top army and paramilitary officials on Tuesday denied the local media reports about a bomb attack targeting a convoy carrying Chinese engineers and workers on their way to the work site in the Sui area of Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan, reported local Urdu TV channel AJJ.
The report quoted Obaid Ullah, Major General of Pakistani army in Quetta, capital of Balochistan, as saying that the reports about the attack on the Chinese convoy are baseless and there is no such an attack in the afore-said area.
The report also quoted the Inpector General of paramilitary forces in Balochistan as saying that no Chinese engineers and workers are working in the afore-said area.
Earlier on Tuesday local media including AJJ, Duniya, Geo and Samaa reported that a bomb attack targeting a convoy carrying Chinese engineers and workers on the way to the work site in the Sui area killed five security personnel including three policemen and two local militiamen who were escorting the Chinese to the work site and injured 9 to 11 others.
All the reports said that no Chinese was injured or killed in the attack and only the vehicle carrying the Chinese was slightly damaged.
But the two vehicles escorting the car with the Chinese on board were completely destroyed by a roadside planted bomb, said the local media reports.
Local media Ary even said that there was a firing between the attackers and the security forces following the blast.
