A third woman, Atlanta-based Ginger White, came forward to claim that she had a 13-year extramarital affair with U.S. Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, according to media report Tuesday.
The woman handed over her cell phone to Atlanta's FOX 5 News as a proof, in which there were 61 calls or text messages from a number she said was Cain's private cell phone.
Cain responded that the woman is "someone who I know, who is an acquaintance, who I thought was a friend," but he denied they had had an affair.
In a statement, Cain suggested the woman's allegation was another example of "dirty politics and smear tactics" and evidence some people were "afraid of a Cain presidency."
Cain said he would “not fight false claims as it is not what America needs or wants.”
Cain has been married to his wife, Gloria, for 43 years. His popularity has faded since one month ago when two women, Karen Kraushaar and Sharon Bialek, came forward to publicly accuse Cain of sexual harassment in the 1990s, while he was head of the National Restaurant Association.
White said she stood out because she had seen Cain disparage other women who have accused Cain of sexual harassment while he was at the restaurant association.
A report noted that White filed for bankruptcy 23 years ago and has been evicted from several residences. She described herself as an unemployed single mom trying to make ends meet.
