Some 73,000 Syrians have fled to Jordan since the beginning of Syria's unrest, the state-run Petra news agency reported Thursday.

In addition to the more than 70,000 Syrians who entered Jordan legally, there are about 1,500 Syrians who entered the Kingdom illegally, Jordan's government spokesman Rakan Majali was quoted as saying.

About 2,000 out of those Syrian refugees asked for help and accommodation, said the minister.
